The Association of Hungarian Foundries was founded in December 1992 on the basis of the former Union of Hungarian Foundries. The Association of Hungarian Foundries is a social structure managing the professional business federation of the home founding. The association is member of the Hungarian Employers Federation. Apart from a few exceptions all the most prominent iron-, steel-, aluminium- and other non-ferrous metal foundries are members of the association. The majority of them are jobbing foundries i.e. they produce castings in obidience to home or rather foreign orders for almost all branches of industry, the public utlities and municipal serveing enterprises. In addition to the foundries also enterprises of the bakground industry such as auxilliary materials producer firms, trading and consulting undertakings etc. are members of the association. The fundamental activity of the association is the business federation of the home foundry industry, which in addition to the general and economic business federation of the employers also contains concrete professional representations. To the letters belong alongside the activities related to the enviroment protection, the professional training and education also the estabilishment and development of the international connections. Helping the members getting to the market is also an important function of the association, which means among others making and forwarding market information to the members, in case of casting demand suggesting the adaquate member-foundries to the customers or rather forwarding the enquiries to the member-foundries. Furnishing support to the members plays an important role among the functions of the association. The most important support activities are the following: The association undertakes the organization of the joint participation of the member firms at the native and international trading fairs for the delivering industries. The association issues, constantly maintains and sells the professional catalogue "Casting Buyer's Guide to Hungary". The publication can be ordered at the address of the association.
