Grain refinement is supposed to improve the ability of aluminum copper alloys with respect to hot cracking. The aim of this work is to verify the influence of grain refinement using titanium boride and to perform experiments in order to understand the mechanism(s) of this improvement. Experimental measurements of hot cracking sensibility have been performed on different aluminum copper alloys and rheological behavior is studied for solid fraction.
